SSJYSL - Game Day Checklist

One week before the game

OContact your opponents coach, unless you play in the rec league against a team from our own league. Discuss
  • Time
  • field, parking
  • possible rain-outs / cancellation policies
  • uniform colors
OInform the parents, let them know about
  • When the players need to be on the field
  • address of the field, parking
  • possible rain-outs / cancellation policies
  • uniform colors
  • do you need help to setup or take down the goals? (required if you have the first or last game on the field)
OSpring league, comp teams, home games only: make sure to prepare the money for your referees.
OThink about the initial line-up for the game.
OPrint the list of players or gamecard. (comp teams usually print the game card from the playing league system)

Before leaving for the game

OPack your player passes and print the game card if you are the home team, or the list of players for the game card
OGet the field coordinators and field directors phone numbers so you can call them if you have a problem with the field.
OPack the registration forms for all players (includes medical consent signature).
ODon't forget your first aid box.
OIf you are the home team you need three game balls.
OMake sure to be on the field 30min before the game, 45 if your team needs to setup the goals.

Before the game

OIf required let the parents setup the goals / corner flags. The Field Coordinator should have unlocked everything about an hour before the game.
OGet the game card from the home team, paste your players list on it. If you are the home team give it to the other coach, otherwise to the referee.
OThe referee needs the player passes too, ask referee about special rules, especially if you are visiting another league (direct/indirect free kicks, one or two throw-in, max difference in goals between teams, length of game). Our rules are posted on the website
OWarm-up players, explain initial game line-up.
OWhen asked by referees line-up players for game check-in.
OGet ready for kick-off

During the game

OEnjoy the game! Don't complain to the referee (make sure your parents don't either, if they do YOU will be thrown out!).
OMake sure all players get to play at least 50% (this is a requirement for Rec Teams, and a strong suggestion for Delgado teams).

After the game

OCheer for the other team.
OLine your team up to shake hands with other team.
OMake sure your team and you thank the referees.
OSpring league, comp teams, home games only: pay referees.
OIf required let the parents take down the goals / net / corner flags / garbage cans. The Field coordinator will lock everything up.
