Another EARTHQUAKE soccer reminder. One of the City Council votes for building a new Soccer Stadium is tomorrow night. Please remind your parents that this would be great way for them to involve their children in supporting Civic Activity, and that there presence and voices do make a difference in how City Government is run. See you tomorrow night.

Subject: SSV Update: Tuesday's council meeting... and a new coach
Dear Soccer Silicon Valley member:
Tuesday is starting to look like a very big day for the new San Jose Earthquakes.
As you know, the San Jose City Council will be meeting Tuesday night at 7:00 to vote on continuing the city's productive negotiations with Lew Wolff and his partners. Things are looking good. On Friday, Mayor Chuck Reed and council member Nancy Pyle issued a memo encouraging the full council to approve the city staff's work to date, which is a good sign for the region's soccer fans.
The outlook may look good, but we have to make sure that it stays that way. We may only have to turn out to two or three more city council meetings to see this through, so now is not the time to get complacent. Let's have a big turnout Tuesday night to show the city's elected officials that we are solidly behind this proposal and have the stamina to go the full 90 minutes, too.
As we mentioned, there's also something else that will be happening on Tuesday. The San Jose Earthquakes will be holding a press conference to announce the hiring of a new head coach, and we have the inside scoop. So, in addition to coming out to support the stadium effort on Tuesday night, you'll also be able to join your fellow Quakes fans in person to celebrate the hiring of Frank Yallop, a man who already owns two championship rings with the name "San Jose Earthquakes" on them.
We'll see you at city hall! Detailed directions and parking information can be found on the SSV web site.
Yours in soccer,
SSV's Board of Directors:
